What kind of grass seed do we use/sell? HD Sod uses and sells a blend of 5 different Kentucky Bluegrasses. This blend is shade tolerant as well as it is the best for our Minnesota weather. It is also the same seed we use to grow our sod!

How much seed do I need? We recommend 1-2 pounds of seed per 1000 square feet of area.

How long does germination take? Kentucky Bluegrass takes about 3 weeks to germinate when both soil temperature and moisture conditions are ideal. Note that cold and/or dry soil can greatly extend the normal germination time.
